MetraWeather, along with parent company MetService and science partner MetOcean Solutions, will be exhibiting advanced weather forecasting and weather communications solutions at InterMET Asia 2016.
InterMET Asia is the region's only dedicated weather and climate services event. It brings together the global weather and climate industry dedicated to improving weather, hydrological and climate services for the Asian, African and Pacific regions.
The event is supported by the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery, and is held at iconic Singapore landmark Marina Bay Sands on 16-17 March2016.
The escalating severity of extreme weather events in South East Asia is creating new challenges for a region often deeply impacted by the elements. These challenges, along with air quality and pollution concerns, will be examined at InterMET.
For example, meteorologists say lightning appears to be killing and injuring increasing numbers of people in developing countries including Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. Cambodia has one of the highest rates in the world of deaths by lightning. Statistics show that deaths from lightning jumped 42.6 percent year-to-year in 2015 with 107 people killed and 77 injured.
MetraWeather has established a strong presence in South East Asia and recently registered a new subsidiary company based in Bangkok.
Many leading broadcasters and newsbrands in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia use MetraWeather’s multimedia weather graphics platform to produce highly-accurate weather and environmental content including information on earthquakes, volcanic activity, tsunamis and air and water quality.
