MAYNILAD Water Services, Inc., one of the Philippines’ water service providers, partnered with MetraWeather to improve its climate data analysis and forecasting to help them have quicker interventions on weather disturbances that affect the delivery of water service. 

Maynilad, a water utility company, utilizes MetraWeather services in several ways. They have installed Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) in their Watersheds to continuously calibrate and validate weather models, improving the accuracy of weather forecasts. These forecasts, including rainfall, wind, and temperature, are maximized by Maynilad in their day-to-day operations and decision-making processes. Maynilad is also maximizing weather data from the past decade to gain insights into climate patterns and provide a climate outlook. This information helps them develop immediate, short-term, and long-term initiatives to address changing water demands effectively. The site-specific forecasts provided by MetraWeather on rainfall patterns, wind direction, and temperature in crucial watersheds enable Maynilad to obtain valuable advance information on weather trends that could impact their operations, such as sudden increases in the turbidity level of raw water at Ipo Dam.
